As we told you, the Malaga Christmas lights have a surprise for you in 2019 because, in addition to the inauguration of the well-known Christmas lights of Calle Larios, we have the premiere of an exclusive video mapping on the surface of the Alcazaba wallfrom 29 November to 7 January, andall thanks to the collaboration of Grupo Premium, Obra Social La Caixa, Bodegas El Pimpi, Teatro del Soho, MAHOU-San Miguel and Turismo y Planificación Costa del Sol. Are you going to miss it?
Yes, you have read it correctly: this year’s Christmas lighting in Malaga introduces a projection on the Alcazaba, one of the most emblematic monuments of Malaga in Alcazabilla street, in the heart of the historic centre of the city. The video mapping “A Christmas Story” will last 7 minutes and will have 3 daily passes at 6.30, 8.00 and 9.00 pm. The story, with a girl as the protagonist and set in Malaga, refers to the most emblematic places of the city, such as the cathedral. It will be an exciting story for the whole family, mostly focused on the youngest and with a character that reflects values such as solidarity, generosity or gratitude.
The video mapping has been created specifically for Malaga by Firefly, a group of creatives that have already created similar projects in historical monuments of several Spanish cities. In addition to the projection, the show will be accompanied by other elements, including images, a soundtrack and a narrator, a fascinating spectacle that, without a doubt, you should top up with the inauguration of the Christmas lights in Calle Larios, to live a complete and unique experience.

We have already mentioned that, for several years, witnessing the inauguration of the Christmas lights of Malaga has become a real show, a must-see for locals and visitors alike. All in all, an experience that you surely shouldn’t miss. And in this 2019 full of surprises, Calle Larios is filled with light with a new Christmas lighting design, a premiere that will turn the street’s Christmas lights into a Christmas forest.
The “Christmas Forest” will include a show of lights, music and a lot of innovations, featuring some new musical additions. The show will take place from 29 November to 5 January with three daily shows: at 6.30, 8.00 and 9.30 pm, although for its inauguration the 29th it has a special schedule.
We recommend that, if you want to get yourself a good place, come in good with time and look for some room in the Plaza de la Constitución, where you will be able to witness, in addition to live music, the lighting of the great Christmas tree, the most visited of the 7 giant trees scattered throughout the city — Huelin, Cervantes Theatre, Alcazabilla street…
This year’s Christmas lights also feature another event that will dazzle you: we are talking about the inauguration of the pedestrian area of the Alameda Principal, which will also have a special Christmas lighting, a real opportunity to go for a walk and enjoy the Christmas lights of Malaga an increased feeling of openness and space.
